Stoneville Pedigreed Seed

For 2003, Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company plans to offer four new cotton varieties — a stacked, two Bollgard II and a Roundup Ready — for Southwest growers.

Stoneville ST 5599BR is a stacked Bollgard/Roundup Ready, medium maturity picker variety that has demonstrated outstanding yield potential, along with premium fiber qualities, excellent tolerance to the Fusarium/root knot nematode complex and good seedling vigor.

ST5599BR has performed extremely well in the Southern High Plains of Texas, especially on the sandier soils south of Lubbock where root knot nematode has been tough on other varieties.

Stoneville also plans to introduce limited supplies of two new Bollgard II varieties in 2003.

STX0102BGII and STX0103BGII (experimental numbers): These second-generation BGII varieties offer broad-spectrum lepidoptera protection, excellent yield potential and fiber quality.

Stoneville's new Roundup Ready variety was tested under the experimental number, STX0003R. This smooth-leaf variety offers excellent yield potential, and premium fiber.

Stoneville will offer some very early stripper varieties as soon as 2004.
