2013 No-till Oklahoma Meeting set Feb. 19-20
The 2013 No-till Oklahoma Meeting will be held Feb. 19-20at the NCED in Norman, Okla.
This year the agenda will include nationally and internationally known speakers sharing their views on progressive no-till cropping systems. Speakers currently committed include Dr. Ray Ward (soil fertility management), Gail Fuller (long-time no-till farmer from Kansas), Dr. DeAnn Pressley (KSU – vertical tillage), and Dr. Alan Schlegel (KSU – stubble height and soil moisture conservation).
Main Topics covered during the 2-day event will include:
- Soil moisture measurement and storage
- Management of wheat after wheat
- Fertilizer reactions in the soil
- Vertical tillage (benefits and economics)
- Compaction (measuring and what can be done to fix the problem)
- Resistant weed
- Cover crops
- Industry updates
In addition to the main meeting, the conference also will meet with the Southern Conservation Agricultural Systems group that consists of individuals throughout the southern U.S. This will provide a look at the latest cutting edge research in no-till cropping systems in the southern U.S.
