National Cotton Council launches regional farm bill educational meetings

"It's a brave new world." That's one way National Cotton Council officials described life after the passage of the Agricultural Act of 2014. The new farm bill legislation presents a number of choices, especially for cotton growers. The NCC is dedicated to making those options known to growers.

Kicking off a series of educational meetings this week, starting in south Texas, outgoing National Cotton Council Chairman Jimmy Dodson, a producer from Robstown, and NCC Vice President Craig Brown talked to producers in the Robstown area about the coming changes.

The Council is conducting a series of 49 educational meetings across the Cotton Belt in an effort to inform its many members on what to expect once the final rules of the new legislation are worked out and implemented into the system. The meetings kicked off in El Campo, Victoria and Robstown this week before moving south to the Rio Grande Valley.

More than 90 cotton growers attending the session in Robstown, which will be repeated all over the Cotton Belt in the coming months.
