Newsom Joins TGSP staff

Texas Grain Sorghum Producers is pleased to welcome Morgan Newsom on staff as the new South Plains Producer Relations Coordinator.
Newsom was raised on a family farm in Brownfield, Texas in Terry County where her family still farms today. Growing up, she was active in leadership and raising livestock through both 4-H and FFA. Newsom attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Administration Degree in Marketing. She then headed Texas Tech University where she recently earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Agricultural Communications. While in graduate school, Newsom served as a teaching assistant and helped with communication activities for the Texas Alliance for Water Conservation Program (TAWC).
“I am really excited about the sorghum industry and all the opportunities it has to offer. Growing up on a farm, I know first-hand the struggles of production agriculture and look forward to finding better solutions for those involved,” Newsom said. “I respect those who work so hard in this industry and look forward to working to make their voices heard."
Newsom’s primary duties will be to coordinate information and educational programs to educate stakeholders on the Southwest Plains about the new United Sorghum Checkoff Program (USCP). She will travel extensively throughout the Texas High Plains, Oklahoma, and New Mexico calling on sorghum producers, grain handlers, and end-users.
