Ranch management clinic set for Beeville Sept. 28

A ranching clinic focusing on profitability and effective stockmanship, “Low Stress Livestock, Low Stress Profits,” will be held Tues., Sept. 28, at the Bee County Expo Center, 214 South FM 351, in Beeville, Texas, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The clinic will provide information on grazing land management, horsemanship for the stockman, on-foot cattle and horseback cattle handling, as well as current issues and topics important to ranch management and beef production.The Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative (GLCI), USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Texas AgriLife Extension Service are hosting the clinic.

Curt Pate,stockmanship instructor and horseman, lifelong rancher, former auctioneer, and 2007, 2008, and 2009 American Quarter Horse Association Clinician of the Year, will show attendees ways to work with livestock so the animals handle and perform better. He will also show attendees how to do more with less and create a safer place to work. Curt’s instruction in effective stockmanship supports a “for profit” mindset that the modern rancher needs to survive.

Kit Pharo, feedlot pen rider turned rancher will share the experience he gained building his family business, Pharo Cattle Company, from the ground up. Kit will show ranchers how they can get through the current tough economic times, andhow they can get ahead. Time‐tested, no‐nonsense information that can be readily and easily put to use will be the focus of his presentation. Kit is nationally recognized as a successful rancher and businessman.
