"Scout School" begins May 29, 2009

Texas AgriLife Extension and Texas Department of Agriculture will be conducting a "Scout School" May 29, 2009 in the Lubbock Research and Extension Center Auditorium.

The Lubbock Research and Extension Center is located 3 miles north of Lubbock International Airport at 1102 East FM 1294, Lubbock.

The agenda for the school is as follows:

8:30-9:15 — Cotton pest monitoring by Tommy Doederlein (IPM agent, Dawson county)

9:15 - 10:00 — Corn and Sorghum pest monitoring by Emilio Nino (IPM Agent Castro-Lamb counties)

10:00 - 10:30 — Weed identification by Kerry Siders (IPM Agent Hockley county)

10:30 - 11:30 — Cotton plant mapping, (groups) by Randy Boman (Extension Cotton Agronomist)

11:30 - 12:00 — Basic plant stresses by Jason Woodward (Extension Plant Pathologist)

12:00 -1:15 — Lunch on your own

1:15- 1:45 — Beneficial insects by Monti Vandiver (IPM Agent Parmer-Bailey counties)

1:45 - 2:45 — Worker protection standards (green card) by James Estes TDA
