Sunflower production workshop March 5

Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a free Regional Sunflower Production Workshop from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. March 5 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock, 1102 East Farm-to-Market 1294.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available to those with a private applicators license.

“Sunflowers grow well in the Lubbock area, but to make a profit, key points must be considered,” said Dr. Calvin Trostle, AgriLife Extension agronomist at Lubbock. “Answering those key points which deal with everything from why even plant them to finding markets is the sole purpose of this workshop.”

Workshop topics will include sunflower agronomy, hybrids, entomology, weed control and contractor updates.

For more information and to reserve lunch, contact Trostle at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock at 806-746-6101, ext. 4806, or by e-mail at ctrostle@ag.tamu.edu.
