TCPB’s Gibson named Man of the Year

David Gibson, executive director of the Texas Corn Producers Board (TCPB), was recognized July 21 as the District 2 Man of the Year in Agriculture at the annual Texas County Agricultural Agents Association (TCAAA) meeting and improvement conference in San Antonio. The award was given to seven individuals who were nominated by Texas AgriLife Extension agents across the state for their service and influence on Texas agriculture.

With over 35 years of professional experience in agriculture, Gibson is no stranger to Texas farmers.

He has been with TCPB for 10 years and is responsible for overseeing the educational and promotional activities approved by the board. He also manages research projects the board funds annually. He has also served as the executive vice president of the Corn Producers Association of Texas for the last eight years, where he works to influence state and national legislation that affects corn farmers in Texas.

Gibson worked for 18 years as a county extension agent in Texas in Hale and Swisher Counties, and was also a manager of a grain elevator in the Texas Panhandle for two years. He and his wife Glenda live in Tulia, Texas.

“David has worked tirelessly for the state’s corn producers by helping to increase the visibility of the Texas Corn Producers Board,” said Scott Averhoff, TCPB chairman and corn farmer in Waxahachie. “He really made an impact on our industry and agriculture in general in the state of Texas.”
