Neugebauer a conferee for the 2008 farm bill

Apr 10, 2008 10:58 AM

Congressman Randy Neugebauer (TX-19) was appointed to the House and Senate conference committee convened to negotiate the final details of the 2008 Farm Bill.

"Agriculture producers need a farm policy that is consistent and reliable and deserve to have their voices heard. I am pleased to be able to provide a voice for farmers and ranchers in the 19th Congressional District and throughout the nation in this conference process. Swift action is needed to complete a Farm Bill so that producers know what the policies will be for this year's crops."

The first formal conference meeting is expected to take place on Thursday afternoon.

"It's time the House formally appointed conferees in an effort to try to move this stalled process off high center. I pledge to work in a bipartisan manner with my colleagues to reach the best possible agreement and to be a staunch advocate for the farmers and ranchers I represent.

"Congress has been working on this Farm Bill for more than a year, and it is time we find a way through this conference committee to do our job and complete this process."
