TACC: "Farm Bill Update" buffet breakfast Monday, February 11,2008

With agriculture being a large part of the Texas economy, the current debate on the U. S. Farm Bill resonates to all corners of the state and to all businesses; especially those with rural populations. As such, two of Texas' premier agriculture lenders - Great Plains Ag Credit and CoBank - are teaming up to host a "Farm Bill Update" buffet breakfast on Monday, February 11, 2008.
The event will be held from 7:30 - 8:45 a.m. at the Ambassador Hotel (Georgia and I-40) in Amarillo and all those interested in the rural economy are encouraged to attend. No reservations are necessary and dress is casual. The breakfast will feature Tom Sell of the Farm Bill coalition advocate team of Larry Combest and Tom Sell of Lubbock.
The Farm Bill has passed both the U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate and now goes to conference committee where it will face serious debate from the Bush Administration. Sell will discuss his latest take and likely outcome of farm policy for the next several years.
Great Plains Ag Credit and its CEO Tim McDonald operate their farm and ranch lending services from their home office in Amarillo and CoBank from its operations in Lubbock. CoBank, and its contact Lynn Scherler, primarily finance rural infrastructures and agribusiness operations all across the region.
