Kansas Ag Technology Conference slated Jan. 22-23 in Salina

The most current information on research, equipment, economics and more will be part of the Kansas Ag Technology Conference scheduled for Jan. 22-23 at the Holiday Inn in Salina.
The conference, sponsored by Kansas State University Research and Extension and the Kansas Agricultural Research Association (KARA), will feature presentations related to precision agriculture, as well as commercial exhibits and time for informal discussion with vendors, researchers and producers familiar with the technology.
"This is an applied workshop for farmers, consultants, industry, researchers and others who are using or considering using precision agricultural concepts in their business or farming operation," said K-State Extension agronomist Scott Staggenborg.
The conference begins with registration at 8 a.m. on Jan. 22 and the program starting at 8:45 a.m.
Presentation topics and speakers will include:
Our Current State of the Art - Ted Macy, MapShots, Data Management;
Real Time Nitrogen Soil Sensor - Randy Price, K-State;
Variable Rate Fertilizer Economics - Terry Kastens, K-State;
On-Farm Research - Jim Leverich - University of Wisconsin;
GIS + Applications: A Holistic Approach - Walter Mayer, ProGIS
Remote Sensing in Today´s Agriculture - Lanny Faleide, Agri ImaGis Technologies;
Sensor-based Nitrogen Management - Dave Mengel, K-State;
Sprayer Technology Update - Bob Wolf, K-State
Information Transfer - Mobile to Station - Bobby Hardin, Texas A&M University; and
GIS on the Cheap: Spatial Tools to Process and Integrate Yield Data with Zonal Management - Pat Coyne, K-State.
Vendors will give presentations during the breaks, to allow producers to learn about some of the most recent equipment available.
The conference will end with lunch at 11:35 on Jan. 23, followed by the KARA annual meeting. Presentations by farmers about research conducted on their farms will follow the meeting.
