The Texas Peanut Producers Board (TPPB) and the National Peanut Board (NPB) are jointly accepting research proposals that address production issues important to both state and national peanut industries.

TPPB and NPB's main priority is production research with an emphasis on increasing grower profitability, said Charles Rowland, TPPB research committee chair and Seminole peanut grower. The proposals for TPPB will be for the 2009 fiscal year and for the 2010 calendar year for NPB, and are funded through the grower-supported state and national boards.

"We would encourage all researchers to communicate with their regional peanut producers to identify local research needs," Rowland said.

The deadline for proposal submissions is by 5:00 p.m. CST, Feb. 18, 2009.

Proposals meeting the required criteria will be reviewed at a research hearing to be held on March 2, 2009, at the Embassy Suites in Lubbock. The public is welcome to attend.
