You mentioned driving through West Texas. My uncle owned and operated Post Hardware for years. Later, my brother owned it.
Looking back is fun. All the gadgets were simple. I have a collection of them.
Our outhouse was a three-holer about a block from the house. Ha!
We owned a dairy: We bottled and delivered milk and cream to grocery stores, drug stores, cafes and residences. He sold milk for 20 cents a quart and cream for 80 cents a quart; gas was 14 cents a gallon.
