Texas Cooperative Extension will hold a range monitoring workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 20 at the Longworth Community Center.

The workshop will be conducted by the Extension offices in Jones, Fisher and Nolan counties in conjunction with Dr. Allan McGinty, Extension range specialist at San Angelo.

"The whole idea is to help landowners develop a simple range monitoring system that indicates whether or not they are damaging their range through overgrazing," said Todd Vineyard, Extension agent in Jones County. "We'll be demonstrating this practical, simple monitoring system that's fine for most people to use. The system helps producers improve their range and identify problems before damage is done."

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available.

The workshop is free and open to the public.
