The first annual South Texas Commodity Symposium will be held October 15 and is hosted by Texas Corn Producers, Texas Grain Sorghum Producers, Texas Peanut Producers Board, Texas Rice Growers Legislative Group, Texas Wheat Producers Association, South Texas Cotton & Grain Association, Southwest Council of Agribusiness and Winter Garden Produce.

“We are very excited to host the South Texas Commodity Symposium at the 2010 San Antonio International Farm and Ranch Show,” said show founder Lyle Larson. “Texas farmers will also experience a great educational program conducted by Texas AgriLife Extension and have the opportunity to visit hundreds of exhibitor booths demonstrating agriculture’s newest technologies.”

Confirmed speakers include Don Gohmert, State Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Juan Garcia, State Executive Director for the Texas Farm Service Agency (FSA), who will be giving important program updates. The program will also include an update from the Texas Department of Agriculture, and a panel discussion on water regulation issues. Tom Sell of Combest, Sell and Associates, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for this event.

“South Texas Cotton & Grain Association is pleased to be one of the hosts of the South Texas Commodity Symposium in San Antonio this year,” said South Texas Cotton & Grain Association’s Executive Director Jeff Nunley. “We have worked closely with other state and regional agriculture associations to put together an informational program featuring timely topics and top-notch speakers to make this a great opportunity for agricultural producers in South Texas.”
