USA Rice names Broussard to new legislative affairs post

Former senatorial staff member Johnny Broussard has joined the USA Rice Federation as director for legislative affairs and communications in its Government Affairs Department.

USA Rice leaders said the new position will communicate legislative updates and answer questions from members. In this capacity, Broussard will also make visits to Capitol Hill as needed.

“Johnny needs no introduction to much of the rice community since he has worked on rice-related government affairs issues for many years, notably with retired Sen. John Breaux, Democrat-La.,” said USA Rice Federation President and CEO Stuart Proctor.

Broussard has been a congressional staff member for more than 25 years, serving in various positions from press secretary to legislative assistant. He received his bachelor's degree in French from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Broussard, a native of Crowley, La., was presented with a USA Rice award for distinguished service to the U.S. rice industry at the USA Rice Outlook Conference in New Orleans in December.
