Agriculture is bright spot for Oklahoma economy

Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Jim Reese touted the importance of agriculture and agricultural research at Tipton, Oklahoma, during a recent research station dedication ceremony and field day.

Reese said agriculture is one industry in Oklahoma that generates wealth. He also praised OSU research efforts, especially in wheat breeding, noting that about 50 percent of the wheat acreage planted in the state is planted to varieties developed by OSU wheat breeders. “Oklahoma farmers believe in Oklahoma wheat,” he said.
