Texas Cotton/Grain Risk Management Workshop Jan. 29

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Bailey County will conduct the 2010 Texas Cotton/Grain Risk Management Workshop from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Jan. 29 in Muleshoe’s Bailey County Coliseum.

Curtis Preston, AgriLife Extension agent in Bailey County, said the workshop is meant to help producers with their planting decisions, crop insurance sign-up and marketing plan development.

“We’ll begin with an overview of available crop insurance products,” Preston said. “Then, we’ll demonstrate a new software tool we’ll make available to producers that shows the risk implications of the different insurance alternatives.

“Next, we’ll present a cotton and feed grain market outlook with implications for planting and marketing decisions. We’ll conclude with a hands-on decision game that will let participants implement what they have learned during the day.”

Individual registration is $20 and due at the workshop. (No pre-registration is necessary.)

For more information call Preston at 806-272-4583.
