The 2013 Texas Produce Convention, Aug. 7-9 at the Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort  in San Antonio, will offer the knowledgeable speakers covering the hottest topics that affect growers and shipper of fresh produce in Texas, says Bret Ericson president of  the Texas International Produce Association.

“The annual TPC will feature presentations on market trends and growth opportunities through an outstanding education program and an  innovative tradeshow,”  Ericson says. “Industry representatives also have ample opportunities to build personal and professional relationships during the special events, breaks and recreational activities.

“We have some exciting changes this year including a Country & Western themed Boots n' Bling extravaganza with a special performance by Grammy award winning Country and Western artist Rick Trevino,” Ericson said. “Rick has had a number of top country hits over the years, including a No. 1 on the Country Billboards.”

The conference begins with a golf tournament at the Westin La Cantera's Resort course. That’s followed by an opening night networking reception, educational opportunities, incredible speakers and an informative expo.

“Our Boots and Bling PAC Fundraiser will be the highlight event on Aug. 8. Also on tap will be bull riding, a money machine, and a silent auction.”

Ericson says the annual convention and expo helps raise monies to help support the Texas produce industry and various associations including Texas International Produce Association, Texas Citrus Mutual, and the Texas Vegetable Association.

“It also helps raise money for our industry's Political Action Committee—the Texas Produce Policy Council. The TPPC allows us to support candidates who help promote and protect the overarching interests of the Texas produce industry. All of the money raised at the annual TPC silent auction is allocated to the PAC. If you or your organization is interested in donating an auction item or contributing money to help purchase an auction item, please call our office to make arrangements.”

Ericson says the convention destination offers participants an ideal location to bring the family. “With Six Flag's Fiesta Texas just minutes from the resort and our Boots & Bling fundraiser, TPC will be something that the entire family will enjoy,” he said.
